Small Groups (September-June)

Jr. High Growth Groups
Jr. High meets Wednesdays from 6:30-8 in the Youth Building. Jr. High students meet together for the first 15-20 minutes, where students play a high energy ice breaker, and are introduced to the night’s topic. Then they break off into their small groups, which are divided by gender, to dive into the lesson for the week. Our ministry utilizes its adult leadership to use their gifts & to disciple students in their Christian life. We end the night by combining with the High School small groups to worship God through song. Small groups are only successful if everyone is committed to the group itself and to growing in obedience to Jesus Christ.

Old School (High School)
High School meets Wednesdays from 7:30-9:15 in the Youth Building. We begin the night worshiping God through song led by our youth worship team. All High School students stay together for the first 20-30 minutes hearing energetic, creative, biblical teaching with relevant applications. Then we break into our small groups, which are divided by gender, where students can discuss the message and issues in their lives. Small groups provide a place where young men and women can be real, ask tough questions, and be mutually encouraged in their relationship with God. The first Wednesday of the month each individual small group meets at a group member’s home (contact your leader for location). These groups are only successful if everyone is committed to the group itself and to growing in obedience to Jesus Christ.

Sunday Services
We believe students should be connected to the larger church body as a whole. Therefore, we encourage Jr. High and High School students to attend a Sunday morning worship service: 9:00am and 10:30am. The 10:30 service is designed to be relevant to Jr. High, High School, College, younger adults, and individuals desiring to develop a Christian Worldview and Biblical Understanding in a more casual setting.
 
Summer Schedule (Late June-August)
Summer at OPC can be summed up in one word, “Relationships.” Whether making smores by the fire while singing worship songs in Port San Luis, diving into God’s word on Wednesday nights, or catching some sun while playing Frisbee golf at Waller Park on Thursday afternoons, the summer lineup at OPC is packed with highly relational events. It does not matter if your student is already involved with the Youth Group, or if they have never stepped foot into a youth event! The summers is a perfect place for them to plug-in with fellow Christ-followers, and take their relationship with Jesus to the next level! Jr. High and High School students meet together for the summer.

Regular Yearly Events

Winter Camp
Every winter our Jr. High and High School students head up to Hume Lake in the Sequoia National Forest for a weekend of fun, spiritual growth, and snow! It is a great chance to connect with other students and adult leaders. CHECK CALENDAR FOR THIS YEARS DATES!

High School Summer Camp
Every summer we head up to Bass Lake in June for a great time of fun in the sun, skiing, fishing, rope swinging, engaging Biblical messages, worship, and spiritual refreshment.  Ask anyone who has been, Bass Lake is the highlight of the year! CHECK CALENDAR FOR THIS YEARS DATES!

Spring Break Missions Trip
We believe that God has called all of us to be missionaries! Often times we think that missions work is something that is done in another country, when in fact there are opportunities to serve much closer to home. Every Spring Break we partner with the Center for Student Missions (CSM) to serve in San Francisco or Los Angeles. Visit the CSM website at http://www.csm.org/. Junior/Senior Leadership Retreat
We want to encourage students to take ownership in the youth group and to invest in the lives of their peers. Every fall we head up PCH to camp at Big Sur State Park for a weekend of fun, hiking, and leadership development. Upperclassmen must understand that God is calling them to engage in Kingdom activity right now! CHECK THE CALENDAR FOR THIS YEARS DATES!
